This program satisfies both the 8-hour and 3-hour CLE requirements of Standard 14.0 of the Missouri Supreme Court’s Standards for Guardians ad Litem.

Speakers will discuss the legal framework for cases involving abuse and neglect allegations and child representation; how to efficiently and effectively investigate child abuse and neglect allegations; important aspects of trauma and family dynamics that often impact the families involved in these cases; how bonding and attachments play a role in permanency planning; and legal ethics of representing the different parties in these cases. For those interested in volunteering for, or just learning more about, Jackson County CASA, the lunch hour panel will discuss Jackson County CASA’s case management model and how it works within the child welfare system.
